Mille Chief Fav For Triumph

The JCB Triumph Hurdle is scheduled to take place on the last day of this years Cheltenham Festival on Friday 19th March 2010 at 1.30pm. The race is a Grade 1, Class 1 run over 2m 1f open to entries 4 years and over and this year the ante-post favourite that everybody is talking about is Mille Chief, the six-length winner at Huntingdon last month for Alan King, who has had two winners and two seconds in the race since 2005.

But it’s not all about Mille Chief because of the 21 entries that are still currently in the running quite a few are seeing a lot of market support including According, the Nicky Henderson contender. Willie Mullins, who trained the last Irish victor of the Triumph Hurdle, Scolardy in 2003, has four year old french Secant Star heading up his three entrants and bookies are all over it with average ante-post odds of 10/1 which could turn out to be a fantastic each way bet!.

According to Mullins Secant Star could be running at the Winning Fair Juvenile Hurdle at Fairyhouse on Feb 20th so keep an eye out and if he’s on form we’ll know it by then. He could be joined at Fairyhouse by the Irish, Edward O’Grady trained, Alaivan who is currently fourth favourite on the ante-post odds for the Triumph Hurdle.
