Ryanair Chase Runners and Odds

Scheduled for Thursday 18th March 2010 at 2.40pm the Ryanair Chase, registered as the Festival Trophy, is a Grade 1 National Hunt chase which is open to horses aged five years or older. It is run over a distance of 2 miles and 5 furlongs with seventeen fences to be jumped.

It has only been running since 2005 when it was introduced as a new race to fill the card after a fourth day was added to the Cheltenham Festival. It has been backed by Ryanair since 2006 and has had five previous winners who are: Thisthatandtother in 2005, Fondmort in 2006, Taranis in 2007, Our Vic in 2008 and Imperial Commander in 2009.

This years favourite is Poquelin a French seven year old trained by Paul Nicholls who’s very recent form is good but who has had a mixed bag of results over the last couple of years with 11387-121.

This year’s Ryanair Chase will be worth a total of £250,000 after it was given a cash boost of £30,000 on last years prize fund.
