Jewson Novices Steeple Chase 2011
Day three of the 2011 Cheltenham Festival and the first race of the day is the Jewson Novices’ Steeple Chase, a very popular Grade 2 listed weight-for-age chase run over 2m 4f. Though easy to get confused, this is actually a new race for 2011 and not to be mixed up with the old ‘Jewson Novices’ Handicap Chase’ which has since been renamed the Centenary Novices’ Chase and is now Tuesday’s seventh race.
Baring that in mind, there’s no back story to this race so we’re all in a very unique position of being able to witness history as one of the runners will ultimately become the first ever winner of this race!
So, who to look out for? The French, Alan King trained, Medermit is favourites with all of the bookies but has had mixed form recently. A number of horses are entered multiple times depending on their class so undoubtedly the card will change between now and race day so wait until final declarations are in before committing yourself or you could find yourself out of pocket!
