Top Three In Gold Cup

It could be a repeat performance of the 2010 Cheltenham Gold Cup as three of the first four home in last year’s renewal of race remain in the running for this year’s race following the latest forfeit stage for the Cheltenham Festival’s championship showpiece race.

Imperial Commander, Denman and Carruthers are among the 24 who stand their ground, along with dual winner Kauto Star, King George VI Chase hero Long Run and Hennessy winner Diamond Harry.

Time For Rupert hasn’t fared so well and has been withdrawn by trainer Paul Webber, and the Irish contingent has been slashed to just four runners: Pandorama, Tidal Bay, Synchronised and Weird Al.

Last year’s race was dominated by the epic battle of Denman V Kauto Star, much to the advantage of Nigel Twiston-Davies who escaped the hype and with Imperial Commander, snuck in to to take the title from odds on favourite Paul Nicholls.

Will this year’s race be as exciting?? Well, all of them are running again so watch this space…
