Arc Winner Danedream Pencilled In For King George

The prospect of last year’s tremendous German-trained Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Danedream appearing in Britain for the first time moved a good deal closer following the news that if all goes well on her next outing, the high-class filly could well be allowed to take her chance in the Group 1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth stakes at Ascot on July 21, writes Elliot Slater.

Peter Schiergen’s tremendously talented daughter of Lomitas stunned the opposition in Paris last October when powering away from a top class field to easily land Europe’s most prestigious all age middle-distance contest, slamming France’s Shareta by five lengths with the exalted trio of Snow Fairy , So You Think and St Nicholas Abbey all further behind toiling in her wake.

After winning at Longchamp Danedream then went off favourite to follow up in the £2 million Japan Cup, and although she only finished sixth to Buena Vista, she stayed on well inside the final furlong and was far from disgraced. After a winter break it was business as usual as Schiergen’s star registered a comfortable success at Baden Baden in Group 2 company and the plan is now to bid for the Grand Prix de Saint Cloud on June 24 before coming over to Ascot four weeks later to try and once again put some of the top middle-distance performers in the world to the sword in the historic and much coveted summer showcase event.

Danedream’s long term target this season is to attempt to become the first horse since Vincent O’Brien’s great performer Alleged in 1978 to win the big race in successive years and is currently on offer at 12/1 for punters who bet on racing at www.betvictor.com for the race that is dominated by the 2000 Guineas and Derby winner Camelot, at a best priced 11/4.

Fancy a flutter? Don’t forget you can get great odds on horse racing at Bet Victor so make sure head over there before the start of the next race.
