Sprinter Sacre appears to have scared off the opposition if the latest number of horses remaining at the latest declaration stage is anything to go by. It’s just been confirmed that only six remain in contention with the withdrawal of four horses at this stage of the game.

Those removed from the running are: Cristal Bonus, Kid Cassidy, Astracad and Nearest The Pin.

The general favourites for the race all remain including race favourite Sprinter Sacre and his main opponents, Cue Card and Al Ferof as well as Menorah, Blackstairmountain and the rank outsider 80/1 Foildubh.

Paddy Power may be weeping into his tea right now as the reduced number of horses just gives Sprinter Sacre and even better shot at winning and it is estimated that, if he wins, it will cost Paddy Power £3 million, as they are offering money back on losing horses if Sprinter Sacre wins.

Sprinter Sacre is the first of five odds-on shots at this year’s festival, at which bookmakers are fearing calamity should they all win, a situation that would be compounded should Long Run win the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup.
