He may be as short as 8/1 with Paddy Power and may even look like a very good each-way bet for punters, but Galileo’s Choice may be lacking the necessary experience to cause an upset at Cheltenham on Tuesday and that’s according to his own trainer.

The roar may go up at Cheltenham but the on-form Galileo’s Choice may have his work cut out for him if he hopes to win first time out at the Cotswolds. He has won two of his three starts over timber with his only defeat coming at the hands of Sous Les Cieux in the Royal Bond.

His latest run out came at Fairyhouse in February when he beat out Grand National hopeful Becuaseicouldntsee by 4 1/2l but his trainer admits it could be a real eye-opener for him in the Cotswolds.

“Inexperience would be the problem with him,” Weld told At The Races.

“He’s a Flat horse converted to jumping and the rest of his year will be built around the Flat and inexperience will be a problem, especially around Cheltenham.”

Maybe 8/1 isn’t as generous as it looks, or maybe Weld is just quelling expectations…time will tell!
