With the 2012 Cheltenham Festival due to start tomorrow, trainer Alan King is undoubtedly going with the best team of his career and if you’re looking for an outside tip for the opening race, the 2012 Supreme Novices Hurdle, then you could do worse than sticking a few quid on his charge Montbazon.

On his own website, trainer king said “Montbazon and Smad Place worked exceptionally well. Montbazon has improved so much since he won his prep-race at Newbury, and his work at home has been unbelievable, while, though Smad Place has it to do against Big Buck’s in the World Hurdle, his work has been a revelation compared to what it was last season, and he just seems a different horse. If he could finish third or fourth it would be absolutely fantastic.”

It would appear that the bookmakers have also taken notice shortening him to third favourite for the race with the odds nose diving from a general 10/1 to 13/2. If you are looking for value in this race then my tip is Midnight Game, the Willie Mullins trained five year old who is in fantastic form, has won carrying the stipulated 11-07 in his last two outings, has the tank to go the distance with the only negative being the ground may be a little fast for him.
